Deep discounts are available only to Prime subscribers, and this promotion is designed to drive subscriptions. One research study estimates that Amazon currently has more than 100 million Prime subscribers, and 44% of them plan to buy something on Prime Day – and 10% of non-Prime households will join during the promotion.
